Goddess and the Baker

A Must-Visit Chicago Breakfast Spot
When I started this blog a few weeks ago, I immediately knew which breakfast spot deserved the very first feature: Goddess and the Baker. Ever since my fiancé, Austin, and I visited for the first time, it has become one of our go-to places every time we travel back to Chicago.
With multiple locations throughout Chicago and even one in Madison, Goddess and the Baker has quickly built a reputation as one of the best places for breakfast, brunch, coffee, and pastries in the area. Whether you’re visiting the city or you’re a local looking for a new café, this spot is definitely worth adding to your list.
The Atmosphere: A Stylish Yet Cozy Café
The first time we walked into Goddess and the Baker, we were instantly impressed. The space has a beautiful upscale vintage aesthetic, but it still feels warm, welcoming, and relaxed. It’s the kind of place where you could easily meet friends for brunch, stop in for a quick coffee, or spend an hour relaxing with breakfast and a pastry.
One of the first things you’ll notice is the stunning pastry display. Fresh baked goods are arranged in a way that immediately catches your attention. Croissants, cookies, cakes, and other pastries are beautifully presented, making it very difficult to choose just one. For anyone searching for a unique bakery café in Chicago, this place absolutely delivers.
What to Drink: Iced Strawberry Matcha with Oat Milk
On my first visit, I ordered an iced strawberry matcha with oat milk, and I would easily rate it a 10 out of 10.The drink has the perfect balance of flavors. The sweetness from the strawberry pairs beautifully with the earthy taste of matcha, creating a refreshing and energizing drink. It’s light, flavorful, and honestly one of the best matcha drinks I’ve had at a Chicago café. If you’re visiting during the summer, it’s the perfect morning pick-me-up or afternoon refresher. Even if you’re just stopping by for coffee, their specialty drinks alone make the trip worth it.
What to Eat: Bacon Avocado Omelet
For breakfast, I ordered the bacon avocado omelet, and it definitely did not disappoint. The omelet comes with Chihuahua cheese, and it’s topped with sour cream and fresh pico de gallo. It’s also served with toast on the side, making it a filling and satisfying breakfast. The combination of flavors works really well together. The avocado adds creaminess, the bacon brings a savory crunch, and the pico de gallo adds just the right amount of freshness.
This is definitely one of my “cheat meals” when I’m craving a little cheese. Even though I usually follow the meal with a probiotic afterward, it’s completely worth it. The dish is hearty, flavorful, and perfect for a relaxing brunch.
Why Goddess and the Baker Is Perfect for Breakfast or Brunch
One of the things that makes Goddess and the Baker stand out is its versatile menu.
Whether you’re looking for:
-
A quick coffee before work
-
A relaxing weekend brunch
-
Fresh pastries or baked goods
-
A full breakfast or lunch
this café has something for everyone.
Because they serve breakfast, lunch, coffee, and desserts throughout the day, it’s the kind of place you can visit anytime.
