A Simple, No-Fuss Biscuit Recipe
Traditional biscuit recipes often require rolling out dough and cutting precise shapes, which can feel intimidating if you’re not experienced in the kitchen. That’s why this drop biscuit method is such a game changer.
Instead of rolling the dough, you simply scoop portions directly onto a baking sheet. This not only saves time but also creates a more rustic, homemade look. Each biscuit bakes up golden on the outside and tender on the inside, with minimal effort.
Perfect for Breakfast or Snacking
One of the goals for this recipe was to create something that could stand on its own—no need for gravy, butter, or jam (unless you want it!). These biscuits are flavorful and satisfying enough to enjoy as-is, making them perfect for busy mornings when you need something quick and filling.
They’re also easy to take on the go. Whether you’re heading out the door for work, school, or errands, these biscuits make a convenient, mess-free option.
Optional: Add a Sweet Twist
While these biscuits are delicious on their own, you can easily dress them up if you’re in the mood for something a little sweeter.
Try:
- A light powdered sugar glaze
- A drizzle of honey
- A sprinkle of cinnamon sugar
Adding a simple glaze can transform these into a slightly sweet breakfast treat or even a quick dessert, while still keeping the recipe easy and approachable.
Tips for the Best Homemade Drop Biscuits
- Don’t overmix the dough: This helps keep the biscuits soft and tender
- Use cold ingredients: Especially butter, for the best texture
- Space them evenly: This allows for even baking
- Bake until golden: A lightly browned top means they’re ready
Final Thoughts
These easy drop biscuits are proof that homemade baking doesn’t have to be complicated. With no rolling, no cutting, and minimal prep, this recipe is perfect for beginners and busy mornings alike.
Whether you enjoy them plain, sweetened with a glaze, or paired with your favorite breakfast sides, these biscuits are a simple and satisfying addition to your recipe collection. Once you try them, they just might become a new breakfast tradition in your home.

Strawberry Buttermilk Biscuits
Ingredients
- 1 2/3 Cup All-Purpose Flour
- 1/4 Cup Granulated Sugar
- 1 tbsp Baking Powder
- 1/2 tbsp Salt
- 6 tbsp of Cold Butter chopped into very small cubes
- 8 Strawberries Chopped
- 1 Cup Buttermilk
- 1 tsp Vanilla
Instructions
- Start by preheating your oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit. Then, line your baking sheet with parchment paper or wax paper.
- In a large mixing bowl stir and combine dry ingredients.
- Using a large fork cut the butter into the dry ingredients by mashing the butter into the dry. Continue this until you have pea sized balls of butter all throughout.
- In another bowl combine the liquid ingredients and strawberries. Stir until combined.
- Add the liquid to the dry ingredient bowl. Mix just until combined. Over mixing will make the biscuits tough.
- With a large spoon, drop the dough onto the tray. Make sure they are all relative in size. This will avoid uneven baking. Brush heavy cream or milk onto each biscuit and bake for 15-17 or until golden on top.
- Enjoy by itself or with a coffee.
